Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
